Top Gun: Maverick released in theaters
Receiving 9 votes on D-BOX PLUS as the most exciting movie of the year and countless other social media mentions, arguably one of D-BOX’s biggest accomplishments of the year was coding the long-awaited Top Gun sequel, Top Gun: Maverick!
For some on Twitter, Top Gun: Maverick is considered the best D-BOX movie ever released.
Others commented on how the haptic feedback added to the immersion of their experience, making them feel like a pilot themselves!
In fact, one Twitter user thought the D-BOX Top Gun: Maverick experience was so impressive, that just watching those in a D-BOX seat inspired them to go see the movie for a 14th time!
With plenty of more tweets and Instagram posts about the D-BOX Top Gun experience, there’s no doubt it was one of the highlights of the year.
Jurassic World: Dominion released in theaters
Another long-awaited title of 2022 was Jurassic World: Dominion, the third and final movie in the Jurassic World trilogy.
Similar to Top Gun, Jurassic World: Dominion also received a ton of love from D-BOX fans on social media. Check out what some of them had to say!
We all know someone who falls asleep at the movies, but as this D-BOX fan says, good luck catching some zzz’s with haptic feedback immersing you in every moment!
The common theme amongst all the comments received for this particular movie was ‘fun’—and John on Twitter really summed up what made Jurassic World: Dominion in D-BOX so fun.
Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Adam & Black Panther: Wakanda Forever released in theaters
The ever-popular Marvel franchise released a few movies this year, and they’re always big hits with D-BOX fans! In 2022, many of you particularly loved the Thor: Love and Thunder experience, and shared your enjoyment with us on D-BOX PLUS and on social media.
Thor wasn’t the only superhero movie that topped the list of top D-BOX moments of 2022: DC’s Black Adam was also released with haptic feedback and was equally as appreciated!
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever also topped the list of 2022 superhero movies, giving movie lovers feelings of immersion, love and hope.
There will no doubt be plenty of superhero movies released in D-BOX in 2023, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for any and all announcements!
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero
As far as animated films go, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was immensely popular. Crafted with a mix of nostalgia for the past and love for the present, it was beloved by Dragon Ball Z fans of all kinds and ages!
Special mentions: Adaptive Audio & Gaming Mode, new D-BOX catalogue
With D-BOX being present in 6 different business sectors—with the theatrical industry being our biggest—it’s normal that the majority of the feedback we receive is for movies that have hit the big screen. However, on D-BOX PLUS we have plenty of sim racers, gamers and home theater afficionados who had different kinds of highlights!
One of D-BOX’s proudest moments of the year was the release of our Adaptive Audio and Adaptive Gaming Modes, which allowed those who have either a haptic home theater seat or sim racing rig to experience any game or any movie with haptic feedback, as opposed to just those originally hand-coded by D-BOX! These features got lots of love on D-BOX PLUS, with multiple users citing them as the most useful feature release of the year.
Another D-BOX success that got some love with D-BOX PLUS members was the release of our new content catalogue. Going from a PDF of our more than 2,500 titles to a dedicated site where users can search for titles, filter by genre and more was a welcome change for our home users, some of whom claimed on D-BOX PLUS that it was their favourite feature as they appreciate the all-new user experience.
2022 was good, but 2023 will be even better!
With so many movies and features headlining 2022, it will be a hard year to top—but D-BOX’s goal is always to continue to augment the entertainment experience, so we’ll do everything we can to accomplish that goal in the upcoming year.
Feedback from D-BOX fans around the world—such as the ones mentioned in this blog—help to guide us in our decision-making process and therefore to further revolutionize the world through haptic technology.
With one of the last movies of 2022 (and therefore one of the first to remain in theaters in 2023) being Avatar: The Way of Water, we’ll be off to a great start!
