Minions: The Rise of Gru
Before he becomes to hilariously evil Gru that we know and love today, Gru was simply a 12-year-old boy who daydreamed about taking over the world from his parents’ basement. Minions: The Rise of Gru, tells the story of how the young supervillain came to know his Minions and recounts one of his very first evil acts!
Set just after the events of Despicable Me’s 2015 prequel Minions, Gru’s all-time favourite group of supervillains, the Vicious 6, abruptly breaks ties with their leader Wild Knuckles. With his big aspirations, Gru interviews to fill the vacant role in the group—but the interview ends in him stealing something dear to the Vicious 6! Though he didn’t get the job, this theft makes Gru and his Minions the new enemy number 1, which is problematic—but also proves that Gru is very capable of being evil.
Starring Steve Carrell as Gru, Pierre Coffin as all the Minions and Alan Arkin as Wild Knuckles, you’ll be laughing right alongside Kevin, Stuart, Bob, Otto and Gru when the 5th installment in the Despicable Me series hits D-BOX theaters on July 1st.
