Overview: Discovering the tools for more efficient training
After 2020’s virtual edition, one could feel the optimism of the 13,000+ attendees of finally meeting in person. This might be somewhat lower than previous editions, but the silver lining is that participants could have in depth discussions with exhibitors, make new partnerships and to learn how to achieve their desired training outcomes through simulation.
Unique solution highlights
I/ITSEC 2021 featured a full range of professional simulation products that create extremely realistic training scenarios to enhance the overall training curriculum. With everything from VR sets, software solutions, immersive display screens, gunnery simulations to flight & land simulators, there was a training solution to be found for all curriculums!
Though there were many unique solutions, some highlights included Haptx showcasing their DK2 gloves, the first with true-contact haptics delivering impeccable realism with more than 130 points of tactile feedback per hand, Infinadeck’s omnidirectional treadmill that allows VR users to walk in any direction, and Unity demoing a robotic dog, showcasing how technology can allow you to generate mission plans without the need for direct manual control of a robot!
Our partners at I/ITSEC
One of the highlights of D-BOX’s week at I/ITSEC was being able to reconnect in person with our existing partners after a year of videoconference. We were able to witness first-hand the strength of a close-knit industry, working together to enhance professional simulated training! Many of our partners connected their booths and products, putting this collaboration and synergy on full display.
Ryan Aerospace featured their HELIMOD MARK III PLUS, a rotary helicopter simulator that is compact, transportable and that has 1.5-inch D-BOX actuators. This solution was tried by the military on-site and received glowing reviews such as “this is way too realistic!”
Ryan Aerospace’s owner, Chris Ryan, was also presented with the Military Simulation & Training “Small Business of the Year” award during the show for their innovative training solutions!
Precision Flight Control showcased its F18 simulator built on 6-inch D-BOX haptic actuators, also including VRGineers headset. This new simulator received stellar comments from users such as “it’s nice having that tilt!” and “the motion really makes a difference!”
Real Time Innovations displayed a Ryan Aerospace Helimod, while their partners Varjo, Kratos and Rave each located on different corners of the trade show floor, displayed a VR headset, a simulated gunner and software connecting the four aspects of the simulation respectively.
Meanwhile, CAE showcased their CAE Sprint Virtual Reality Trainer, which connected 2 Helimod to create either a dual seater helicopter or have 2 vehicles in the same scenario.
Doron Precision Systems took advantage of this years’ conference to showcase their Joint Light Tactical Vehicle simulators.
Also present were D-BOX partners FAAC and Presagis, who are all dedicated providing high-quality training solutions for different industries using haptic technology and who were all putting their specialties on full display.
Looking to the future
We have seen so many great new VR/AR/XR headsets on site which, combined with modeling software and D-BOX haptics, can make innovative training solution.
One of the main discussion points throughout the week was how we can better serve our potential and current clients in the upcoming years, bringing market needs and opportunities to the forefront of discussions. Among improved portability, smaller footprint simulators, retrofitting existing sims with a plug & play haptic solution and more, it’s clear that the future is bright and full of potential—making the simulation and training industry an exciting one to be in going forward.
Are you looking to add more immersion and realism to your simulation & training solutions? Whether it be for flight simulators, heavy-vehicles, construction equipment or any another simulator, D-BOX can offer a customized solution to help improve your simulation & training curriculum.
